Today is my 27th birthday
Today is my 27th birthday. AHHHHHHH!!!!! I’m officially old. (By no one’s standards.)
In honor of me turning 27 today, here are 27 things I’ve done in my life that I think were pretty cool.
27 awesome things I’ve done before turning 27
- Studied abroad (in London and in Sydney)
- Went skydiving over the Great Barrier Reef and landed (safely) on a beach
- Backpacked India for 3 months (can’t wait to go back)
- Fell in love with a boy in Tel Aviv
- Went on a trip to Iceland for a long weekend from Boston
- Traveled to random American cities for various weekends to visit friends and family
- Started a travel blog
- Read a lot of great books (and seen a lot of great movies)
- Worked professionally as a graphic designer
- Lived, worked and studied in Boston for seven awesome years
- Volunteered/worked for a political nonprofit in Israel
- Learned to relax on the beaches of India
- Managed to get a “job” and live in Berlin
- Seen a hell of a lot of live bands and music gigs (and music festivals)
- Traveled to a bunch of places on the whim (Paris, Puerto Rico)
- Took a cab with strangers in the middle of a blizzard
- Went on an epic road trip with some friends as a teenager
- Saw the sunrise over Mt. Sinai in Egypt
- Studied at a great university that gave me plenty of opportunities (even if I didn’t take them all)
- Got a tattoo (two, actually!)
- Celebrated Songkran in Bangkok, Yom Kippur in Israel & Diwali in India
- Written down a lot of important memories (online and off)
- Learned to cook a few main meals (which can be surprisingly enjoyable)
- Been skinny dipping a few times…
- Finally overcame a few of my fears enough to be comfortable with myself
- I’ve met some truly incredible and interesting people over the years
- Backpacked around the world for 18 months!
Despite the fact that by turning 27 I’m now a year older, I’m actually quite proud to be me.

27 was a critical time for me too, I realized then that time went in one direction. It freaked me out a few months, but I moved on. I like the list, I need to make one of my own, some things in common with yours. Have a good week. Brad
Thanks Brad!
You know you’re awesome when instead of a “bucket list” of things you still need to do, you can just be satisfied with the amazing things you’ve already done. :)
Also I’d say this list sums you up pretty well. Good combination of fun, social activities, as well as professional milestones, and of course “travel experience” and the emotional enjoyment of it all. I love how all of these things are equally important in their own ways.
Keep it up, I’m sure you won’t have any problem adding more and more items to this list.
(Sorry for the rant.)
Thanks Emily!
I have to admit that 27 feels pretty good.
Happy birthday, Adam, and congratulations on the new site – it looks great!
Cheers and thank you!
Well done mate. Happy birthday. Here’s to another 27 years of gay adventure!! ;)
Thanks so much Ian!
