I’m determined to travel more in 2013 and here are some of the places I plan to visit, some traditional gay travel destinations, some less so.

London, England

London is oh-so-gay and it’s also one of my favorite cities in the world. It’s been years since I’ve had a proper visit and I plan to hit it up in style. Big nights out, plenty of cheap eats, maybe even rent a flat for a week. Home to some of the world’s best museums, my plan is to mix a bit of culture with some nightlife. And of course a curry or two from Brick Lane. That Gay Backpacker published an extensive gay guide to London’s gayborhoods which I’ve already bookmarked for my visit.

Mykonos, Greece

I’ve lived in Europe for over a year and somehow I’ve managed to miss out on the southern gay oasis that is Greece. With Greece’s suffering economy, I’m actually quite eager to get over there and spend my Euros where I know it’ll help. Greece is at the top of my summer travel plans. I think a Greek holiday will be just what I need after this long German winter.

Helsinki, Finland

Ever since I picked up a flyer about Finland’s gay pride last year, I’ve been curious what the city has to offer. In 2012, the city was also named the World Design Capital of 2012, and with my whole hipster spin, I can’t pass up such a creative city.

Rome, Italy

Oh, Rome. I fell in love with the Eternal City last summer. The food was amazing, the nightlife was surprisingly cool and even if the weather was hot, so were the men. It was my first visit to Italy so I’d like to plan another trip around Italy, starting in Rome and then heading south. Last year, one of the best Rome tours I took was a walking tour through the Testaccio neighborhood where we visited a Roman restaurant, gelateria, café and pizza stand, and I’d like to spend more time in Italy exploring more of the absolutely delicious Italian foods. I’ll just be sure to visit after my beach trip to Mykonos.

  3. Thanks for that link :) I never really thought of Finland as an uber gay spot – interesting. Stockholm and Taipei are the ones I really want to go to!
