Gay news today: Chick-Fil-A, Barney, Lesbians & Nigeria
Zach Wahls, that dude from Iowa, made the news again today. See the video above if you haven’t already. Also still bullying his way into the news is Barney Frank. Chick-Fil-A has been on my mind and I read a great opinion piece that offers a different perspective than my own. And yet again, another African country makes the news for being anti-gay.

Child of two lesbian parents in Iowa speaks out
Iowa’s government was considering some anti-gay legislation and Zach Wahls, the 19-year-old son of two lesbian parents, stood up to speak out against the legislation last winter. MoveOn.org must’ve just seen the video because they posted it on their blog today. If you haven’t seen it, watch it today. Some take-aways: Iowa has the least-amended state constitution.
Barney Frank and his retirement from the US Congress
People either love him or hate him and Dana Milbank of The Washington Post gives a balanced perspective on his retirement. Milbank describes Barney Frank as a “liberal lion, gay pioneer and respected legislator, [and] also one mean and ornery S.O.B.”

Personally, I think yes. I had the choice the other day to grab a quick lunch there and opted against it simply because of their stance on gay rights. This article on Queercents provides a balanced perspective and comes out with a different opinion than my own.

While some countries are actively changing their discriminatory laws, others (America included) are actively introducing them. LGBTQ Nation explains some of the laws and legislation in Nigeria today, as well as what exactly this new bill (so far only passed in the Senate) means for LGBT Nigerians abroad and at home.
