Details for Copenhagen’s upcoming 2012 gay pride
Copenhagen Pride 14-19 August, 2012
The 2009 World Outgames really put Copenhagen on the international gay map when thousands of visitors came to compete and party in the Danish capital. Luckily the Copenhagen scene has only grown in size since.
Ninety percent of Copenhagen’s gay bars are located in close proximity to each other in the city centre and therefore easy for visitors to find and enjoy. Picking the perfect party can be tricky though since Copenhagen only sports a single gay night club. Instead, regular and one-off parties are thrown every single week in clubs, galleries and other venues throughout the city. The challenge for visitors (and locals alike) is to find them. The best English party resource is Gay Events Copenhagen on Facebook.
Copenhagen Pride Week is 5 days packed with gay-related events, concerts and of course the pride parade that culminates with tens of thousands of spectators joining the floats on “Pride Square” in front of city hall.
After recently securing both marriage and adoptions rights the annual gay pride is more about celebrating tolerance and diversity than a call for expanded rights. For the same reasons, the official and largest Pride Party “Pride With a Purpose” is set to benefit some of those LGBT’ers less fortunate than those living in tolerant Denmark. All proceeds will instead be used to provide personal safety alarms to gays in Uganda. Tickets for sale via http://allrightscph.com.
